Pastime: Tabletop Checkers

A diagonal jump. When the snow finally melted earlier this spring, we were left with a picnic table that had lost its luster. Peeling paint and looking a bit ragged, it needed a new look.

At first I thought of just splashing on a new coat of paint, but then had the idea of painting a check pattern, or a geometric design, like a permanent tablecloth. Checks led to checkerboard and it became a combination of both. This is the initial sketch. The base coat is ready, and the next step is to watch for a favorable forecast - sunny and dry, with no chance of rain. Stay tuned . . .
