Whenever we commit to a new idea or goal, it's a leap of faith.

Whether it's an exercise routine like a daily walk or yoga practice, a writing project, dedicating yourself to painting, or some other goal, our imaginations give us the fuel we need to start.

And often, we're off to a great start. Full of ambition, curiosity, and enthusiasm.

But just as often, the enthusiasm and curiosity wane. We face obstacles, distractions, and setbacks and it's easy to slack off, to let it go.

Sometimes that's good. Maybe the project wasn't a good fit, or it's just not the right time. But sometimes, we just need some encouragement, a routine, or a gentle nudge to keep going.

Pin it to the wall

There's a project I've been working and while I've made progress, I'd like to be more consistent with my effort.

Today is the first day of February. This year, February is a tidy four weeks, Sunday to Saturday, a good visual.

So I created a calendar page.

Each day I spend even the smallest amount of time working on my project, I'll put an X in the box and use the calendar to keep me focused.

To create an unbroken chain of Xs.

To keep it top of mind, I'm going to pin it to the wall.

If there's a project or goal you're working and want to
try the calendar click here or on the image above and print one.

p.s. My project is a series of cardboard sculptures based on Aesop's fables, and I'm working on The Tortoise and The Hare. Here's where I am with the hare. I'll share more next week ... after I've got (fingers crossed!) a week's worth of Xs on the calendar.

If you use the calendar, let me know how it goes ... and what you're working on.

In the meantime, Friday is Pay a Compliment Day, and I believe ... You are amazing!
