Patagonia's Worn Wear, Giving Thanks

Patagonia's Worn Wear program elicits thank you notes from grateful customers.
Patagonia makes high-quality, long-lasting outdoor clothing.

After years of use, their customers become attached to a favorite jacket or a pair of shorts . . . the ones they wore when they hiked . . . or climbed . . .

Patagonia also understands their customers and the value of holding on to something that matters.  That it's perfectly feasible, and sometimes more practical, to repair something rather than toss it out and buy new. So they've developed the Worn Wear program.

Patagonia's Worn Wear program makes repairs free of charge, and this spring they are traveling across the country doing just that.

If you're ever in doubt whether or not it matters,  or if it's even worthwhile to write a thank you note, watch this short video. It does matter.

Thanks to Bernadette Jiwa at The Story of Telling for bringing the video to our attention.

What a great idea to teach people to repair their gear and clothes. I'm excited to see people getting back to sewing and handicrafts. Sadly, Home Economics has been taken out of the school system - needs to be put back in the curriculum.

Hi LIsa,

You're right! I learned to sew and cook through Home Economics classes. And of course the boys had woodworking and shop. It would be good if it was brought back and kids could choose. I think I would have enjoyed woodworking/shop as much as cooking!

Ah, I took wood shop, too! Built a lovely butcher block table that my mom has in her kitchen.
